Classes

Our coaches strive to make their classes interesting, challenging & FUN. We keep our classes small in size to make sure our coaches are able to spend time with each participant/group. All of our classes are catered to the participants who attend, this is to ensure that the skill level is appropriate for each person/partnership (e.g beginner or intermediate). Our coaches prepare you for skills by breaking moves down into progressions to ensure that our students feel safe & supported. Each class is different to keep you interested, making sure you always learn something new while still building your foundations & incorporating skills learnt previously. We love it when students come up with creative ideas or want to try something they have seen online, so if you have a request just talk to our coaches & they will do their best to show you how!

Classes are structured to include:

Individual & Partner Warm Up exercises to improve mobility, strength & balance
Floor Based Acro / L-Basing (Base lays on the floor, flyer balancing on the feet)
Some classes will include Standing Acro (base & flyer performing a skill standing up)

Acro For Beginners

ACRO FOR BEGINNERS

Monday

Your introduction to Acro! This class is best suited to those who are brand new & ready to get started! Begin with the basics by learning body positions & gaining an understanding of alignment & techniques that make the poses achievable.

Handstands & Hand To Hand Balance

HANDSTANDS & HAND TO HAND BALANCE

Tuesday

Learn how to Handstand at our Handstand & Hand to Hand Balance Class. We will teach you what you need to know about being upside down. This class includes individual and partner exercises and progresses into learning partner balances.

Acro Balance

ACROBALANCE & ADAGIO

Wednesday

AcroBalance includes a variety of Acro poses transitioned together to form flows and adagio movements that can be put together to create a fun sequence.

Acro Fundamentals & Tumbling

BASIC TUMBLING & ACRO FOUNDATIONS

Thursday

A great opportunity to learn basic tumbling skills followed by Acro Foundations where you will learn to transition acro poses and play with more dynamic aspects of Acro such as pops & whips!


Open Training

OPEN TRAINING

Sunday

Open Training is a session designed for our students to meet, learn, play, laugh, train and connect. Also known as ‘Acro Free Time’ this is not a class but our coaches are available to provide advice and assistance throughout.

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Private sessions are perfect for beginning your acro journey, trying it out for the first time, or for experienced students wanting to take their training to the next level. Private lessons are also a fun experience as a gift for someone special or celebrating an occasion such as a birthday.

NEW YOUTH PROGRAM

We are excited to announce our first ever youth program at The Acro Studio!
Our initial 5-week program will take part during the second half of Term 1 on Friday evenings for 90 minutes. The program incorporates basic elements of tumbling, handstands & partner acrobatics. There are no prerequisite levels of fitness or experience. Beginners are welcome. Classes will be structured to include warm up, mobility, conditioning & partner activities. Participants will work both individually & in groups in a supportive & safe environment.

fIRST TIME?

No problem! Many of our students have began their Acro journey with us & have been both surprised & proud of their progress & achievements (we are too!) If you have a question simply check our our FAQ page or contact us directly (we don’t bite) via email or phone. If you’ve already booked in (well done!) simply arrive around 10 minutes early to meet our coaches. We would love to share your first experience with you! Classes are more fun with a friend or partner but if you don’t have one you are still welcome & can pair up with someone else in the class. So don’t be scared, grab a friend or 2 & come on in!
